I just got a phone call from the guys that are restoring Evel's rig.
Apparently, under the side window of the living quarters, on the floor between the wall and the bar, and under the carpet and rubber padding, Evel was hiding a floor safe!
The safe is a combination lock and yes it is locked. Who knows if it's empty or not. Knowing Evel and the way he hid things, you never can tell.
I attached some pictures from the first week of work. Warning to Bob, it isn't pretty, you might not want to look, lol.
The truck was washed down in acid to remove the grime and oxidation. Then they started to dismantle the cab, interior and gut the coach.
The coach is now removed from the chasis and the cab work is underway. The truck runs perfectly, but does need a fuel pump. Next, the entire chasis will be stripped and sand blasted, painted, new air line, brake lines will be installed.
I better get back to work, I'll post more info as I get it. The restoration is being filmed and photographed. The safe?.... well maybe it's time to call Geraldo Rivera.
Check out the pictures here
