I agree, striking the 4x4 on the flimsy safety deck was probably the beginning of the end. There were four video cameras filming the jump at Caesars, yet most of the footage ever shown is the frontal view shot by Linda Evans. If you can find the footage of the jump shot from the side, you'll see Evel hit the safety deck and his body move backwards and down until he hits the parachute on the bike. When he strikes the parachute it ejects him forward and over the handlebars. It's pretty brutal. Some of the best quality Caesars footage I've found is on the UK documentary about Evel on YouTube. The footage is good but the people they interview are lacking on facts.
