"We're mixing this ancient vehicle and the newest gadget to provide (Internet) in the middle of nowhere," park general manager Menachem Goldberg told Time magazine. Visitors thresh wheat and press grapes and turn them into bread and wine. They also make cheese, olive oil and wool using ancient methods, all with the help of guides in period dress.
In addition to being mobile Wi-Fi hot spots, the donkeys also take guests on rides through the hills just a stone's throw from Nazareth - "Abraham rode the original 4x4 - now it's your turn," the park's website says. "Galilee is very important to Jews and Christians, and people come here with very modern technology like iPads, cameras, and computers in order to find their roots. We are giving them an opportunity to connect with the past."
