According to a report in the National Post, a plainclothes drug-squad RCMP officer was sitting in his vehicle just after midnight when "a man approached his passenger door and tried to get in," police spokeswoman Brenda Gresiuk said in a statement. When the surprised police officer asked what the man wanted, the stranger replied: "Oh, sorry man, I was just waiting for my buddy in a silver vehicle."
Just then, the drug dealer's silver-hued sedan pulled up in front of the police car and the man promptly hopped into his dealer's ride. Sensing things weren't exactly kosher, the Mountie followed the other silver car for a short distance. He eventually pulled the car over and arrested the driver. Police say cash and a quantity of cocaine were found in the vehicle. A 25-year-old Surrey, BC, man is facing drug-trafficking charges.
Say what you will about dumb criminals, but you've just got to feel for the drug dealer and his confused customer. After all, silver-hued cars used to really stand out from the vehicular pack some 15 years ago; these days, even minivans are silver.
And as for the Mounties, it's not like the old days with them either, eh? Way back when, you could always spot RCMP officers easy as pie thanks to their bright red tunics and tan-coloured hats. Now they practically dress like normal folk.
For intellectually-challenged criminals, life must seem so unfair at times...
