After the breakup of the USSR, Ukraine had 1700 nuclear armed missiles, most of them aimed at the USA. America, the UK and Russia convinced Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons. In return, the US, UK, and Russia guaranteed to respect the borders of Ukraine. After Russia invaded Ukraine and occupied Crimea in 2014 the UK and US betrayed Ukraine and refused to send anything to aid Ukraine in its defense. They abandoned their word to Ukraine until the full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Giving up their nuclear arsenal was the biggest mistake in history. It has cost Ukraine hundreds of thousands of lives.
