I have recently extended my index of the admission registers of the formerly named Devon County Lunatic Asylum by adding a further 2,412 admissions for the years 1917-1925, By this time the Asylum was operating under the name of the Devon Mental Hospital & I have thus used the contemporary name for this additional index.
As with the previous index (1845-1916), this index records all of the admissions, by alphabetical order, & records: Surname; Christian name; Date of Admission; Place of Residence. I have also provided a synopsis of the patient documents available for the period 1917-1925 for researchers to consult & details on how to find these in the Devon Heritage Centre online & search room catalogues.
The index is available now online in the members area in the Transcripts from Members section & a paper copy is available on the shelf at the Devon Heritage Centre at Exeter
