His son Ernest Edward Webb died in Devon in 1977. Maybe someone can help in this?

Possible brother of Ernest is Samuel Arthur Webb born 1906 Hackney.
Ernest Edward also born Hackney, son of Samuel Webb and Lilian Stella nee Mann
Suggest you obtain death cert of Ernest Edward, to find out who registered the death, and their relation to him.

brother Samuel died in 1909.

Have managed to find the grave of his father, Samuel , not at Tyne Cot where the letter was lost, he is buried at Hangard Communal Cemetery extension I.H.17 , plot 1 . There is a headstone with his name on, but picture not on CWG site yet.
He served with the Royal Berkshire Regiment service no 12175
On CWG site as S E Webb
Nice to think that his body was recovered and given a burial.
We have been to Tyne Cot, so very sad, and so many names on the walls without a grave. Also been to the Menin Gate where I was able to touch the name of the man who would have been my great uncle if he had survived. His wife my grannies sister.
Hope the relatives can be found for a special letter to be returned.
