NORTON FAMILY Stoke Damerel, Charles, Catdown: My 5x grandfather: William NORTON - Mariner M Mary COLLINS 13-09-1771 No details of where. No other details of William. No place of birth.No siblings.No parents. They had 8 children as far as I know. I just have the last two.Twins: John & Mary NORTON Baptised 28-11-1788 NO mre details of Mary. John NORTON - Master Mariner 'Ville de Paris' M Jane COUCH 29-08-1808 in Stoke Damerel. 1824 living at Higher Street, Charles, Plymouth. He was buried in Stoke Damerel 06-06-1824. 1851 Census jane NORTON - Tailoress B Devonport was living at Little Bicton Place, Littleham. Subsequent generations living in Topsham, Withycombe, Littlrham, Exmouth.All male NORTONs mariners up to my grandfather Sydney John NORTON who was an officers' stewsrd on the 'Seagull' and drowned in the Clyde age 39 in 1914. Lots of Nortons around Awliscombe, Honiton, and Lympstone. I would be interested to learn if any are descendents of John NORTON or of his 7 siblings from around 1772 onwards. William was buried at Topsham aged 92 March 10 1844. 3 Mary COLLINS were also baptised at Topsham between 1745 and 1752 - possibly parents names may match with children's names. A Mary NORTON was buried aged 54 Feb 10 1805. Again, available for free via FamilySearch.
