William was born and married in Kingsteignton to Priscilla Ditchett. They had 2 sons John Ditchett and William Ditchett Shilston who were shipwrights at China House and Marrowbone Slipway. It appears that the family moved from Kingsteignton to Plymouth during the first decade of 1800's. I have found a newspaper advert stating that William senior was living at Marrowbone slipway and that the property was on the market as a potential boat building yard. So was he a shipwright or a carpenter? I have found information that he had caught someone stealing from his yard and that John D his son was a witness this occurred prior to his death Any information on William Shilston senior, his profession and when he moved to Plymouth and confirmation that his mother was Mary Waye would be nost welcome. John Ditchett Shilston was my Gt, Gt Grandfather
