John Croot & Sarah Whitemore

John Croot is my 4xGreat Grandfather I have a copy of the banns of marriage between him and Sarah Whitemore being read in Honiton Dec 1785. I got this from findmypast I cannot find a copy of the marriage.
When I search for Sarah I find a transcript which states she married John Croot on 6th Sept 1786 location is given as Honiton on Otter.
Would it be normal for the banns to be read 9 months prior to the Wedding taking place.

Not sure why you couldn't find the marriage on FMP, unless you weren't searching with variant names as both banns and marriage come up when searching.

Not ususal for Marriage to be 9 months after the Banns, but don't believe that mattered, see

The bishops transcript for Honiton on familysearch.org gives the date you have. Perhaps someone was ill/working away/at war? Perhaps there was a dowry involved? not enough money available, to be paid. The marriage on bishops transcripts looks o.k.
