I have carelessly posted this message previously on the DNA Message Board. William Henry Jones married my second cousin Hannah Ellen Bennett in Barnstaple in 1930. He was born in Barnstaple in June 1908. I have identified him in the 1911 and 1921 census and the 1939 Register. I have found the admission record to his primary school in 1913 and his joining the Woodworkers Trade Union in 1927. Hannah Ellen died in Hove, Sussex in 1993. Significantly, her 2 married daughters were living in Brighton. Despite exhaustive searches of FMP, Ancestry and Family Search, I have been unable to find a definitive death record for William Henry.
William Henry's father was William John Heames Jones, also born in Barnstaple in 1888. I have found his records in the 1911 & 1921 census and the 1939 Register, plus naval service records for 1907 - 1927. I know that he married Mary Dennis in 1908 in Barnstaple and that she died there in 1968. However, I have been unable to locate a death record for him also. I would be grateful to receive any suggestions as to how to solve these tricky questions. regards, John Bennett
Spot on Sally. Unbelievably, I found that record about 3 months ago, before I had realized that the 2 daughters had moved to Sussex, and consequently dismissed it as unlikely. Many thanks for your prompt efforts. John
