Old Photographs

My direct ancestors, Short's and Crocker's all originate from villages etc. in North Devon, around in most cases the South Molton area. My grandmother Short, born 1873 and at least 4 of her siblings were born at North Hayne, Bishops Nympton. I am trying hard to find old pictures of this area during the 1800's and if possible the 1700's also. Can anyone give me direction on how and where I might find some. Best wishes to all.

Photography only effectivly dates from about 1840. before that only the wealthy could afford portraits.
