pawlet and takell

iam still tryign to find the parents

of marie pawlet born 1554. she had had married

george southcombe in satterligh in 1574.

also trying to find jhan takell birth

and her parents robert takell could be her

farther he was in the muster roll of 1569

trying to find out where he came from

and who his wife was thanks trish

Have you tried National archives site? I put in Takell and it came up with a few things, would be worth you having a look.Might be useful

national archives and nothing. could yuo

and it just came up o results i don know

if i am appling it oaky trish

Satterleigh parish registers only survive as far back as 1574, so if she was from that parish, you won't find a baptism.

to deborah the only thing is with marie pawlet

i am not to sure where she was born. i know

she had married george southcombe in 1574

satterligh. but i have tried 5 diffent

record offices visitations wills deaths

lay subsidury rolls muster rolls tax returns

and have found nohting. no evidnce what

so ever of her parents, what can yuo suggest

Patricia - as they married at Satterleigh, it is likely she was born there - marriages 'usually' (but not always of course) took place in the bride's home parish. A George SUTHCOMBE was buried at Warkleigh in 1631 and a George SOWTHCOMBE was buried at Rose Ash in 1595.

sense is if marie was born there how come i cant

find anything on her parents i have written

to 5 diffenrent record offcies i have tried

the visitations. there is no evidence on where

her parents came from. no deaths no wills

no lay susibery returns no muster rulls

nothing. how would i find out where her

parents were there is no histrory

of the pawlet family of satterligh.

also george southcombe who died in 1595 was

her husband. and he remarried again

to jane southcombe. thanks trish

As Satterleigh Parish Registers do not survive before 1574, there won't be a baptism to find. Her parents may also have died before that date. Remember, record keeping of this type did not start until 1538 and not all records have survived. Lay subsidy returns typically covered middle and upper classes - the poor and itinerant would not have been mentioned. There are references to the name PAWLET in the National Archives. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

high deborah thank you for your

information what i can not understand

with marei there is nothing on her parents

at all. when i was looking at the southcombes

and tacles . there was evdience of wills

land owning muster rolls etc with marie

there i nothing this is what does not make sense

hi i would like to thank some of the people

on the devon family history board i have

now found out about marei pawlet and jane

pawlets parents well farther. we have had

a tankerd given by the pawlet family to marie

pawlet handed down though the southcombe

family. and though southcombe family letters

also found out that jane pawlet was illigitimate.

i have not found out who the mother was but

i think i can figure it out for my self.

this now explains the reason why i could not

find there births and there parents wedding.
