Gosling-Newton Ferrers

Hello, I am still trying to break down a wall.
John Treble Gosling born 1798, he married Jenny (Jane)Mitchell in Newton Ferrers on the 9th April 1819. He died in Newton Ferrers in 1835. I would love to be able to find John's parents fr definate, I have a James and Elizabeth from Ermington in my sights but nothing concrete. Plus I would like to solve the mystery of the 'Treble' middle name.

Trebel name could be from his mother, or fathers mother maiden name. Spelt Trebel in marriage register, she must have been under age, as it says with permission of parents, so perhaps he was too? there is a baptism of a John Treble born Northam son of Susanna Treble, but could not find a marriage to a Gosling.

Found Jenny on 1841 census, living Newton Ferrers aged 50, with son|John aged 15 and father ?John Mitchell 80, listed as Goslin on family search and Gaslin on Ancestry, so you may have to search more phonetically. Hope this helps a bit

Try John Treble baptised Holbeton 21/1/1798 Mother Sarah Treble. There is a John Treble Baptised Newton Ferrers 3/8/1821 son of John and Jenny Treble Gosling. By the time John married he may have known who his father was and taken that surname.

There are a few TREBLE/TREBBLE/TREABELL events in Newton Ferrers so they are probably worth investigating.

There is a Charlotte GOSSLING baptised in Newton Ferrers in 1798. The record has been transcribed as GOSTLING on FMP. Possible sister?
