I am currently undertaking a reconstitution of several families which had maritime links in the period 1560-1640. The Starr family based in Seaton & Beer had connections with the Barbary trade in the late 16th century and I'm keen to investigate the family and its 'landed' life in the century after 1550. The parish registers of Seaton & Beer are quite helpful and the Starr family is also one which Olive Moger took an interest in when she collected probate records before WW2 so several wills have survived. I am posting here in case there are any descendants of the family who might be able to fill in any gaps in the records. One particular problem is disentangling the gentry family of Beer and the Seaton family associated in the records in various houses in that manor including Horiford. I would be very interested to exchange ideas with anyone who has done any parallel research.
David, Just noticed your posting. I have been working on the starr family of Seaton & Beer for a few years. My connection is through the marriage of William Bampfield to Elizabeth Starr in 1629. Happy to exchange ideas. Regards Kevin
