Henry William CHAPPELL was born July-September 1848 in Neath, South Wales. He married Eliza Ellen ROLLES 15 June 1872 in Torquay, Devon. Eliza was born about 1851 (source 1901 Census). Henry presumably died before 1901 because I can't find him in the 1901 census?
Henry and Eliza had two daughters: Annie Honor CHAPPELL b about 1876 Torquay and Ellen Eliza CHAPPEL b April-June 1879 Newton Abbot.
I think that Henry William CHAPPEL's father was Edward CHAPPELL (or CHAPPLE?) who married Margaret CETHEW 8 November 1847 in Cadoxton-Juxta-Neath, Wales. I think that Margaret CETHEW may have been related to a William LAVERS (or LAVIS?)?
I would love to find out when and where Henry William CHAPPEL died, also the fate of his wife?
There are more questions and blank spaces than answers with this family and I shall be most grateful if some kind person can please help me?

Have you looked at the actual 1901 census, to see if his wife is described as a widow? and how long they were married. Where was she living in 1901. Have you searched with variable spelling, Chapel, Chapple, are possibilities? Have you followed the family through on all the census's to see where they were living? What was his occupation?

Further to Terry's message, it appears there is an H. W. Chappell still living in the Exminster Asylum,on 1911 census aged 59. So born around 1851 and a Painter, which fits. Says "Lunatic". Eliza Chapple still alive in 1911. However, there is a will for a Henry William Chapple who died 03.04.1927. in Exminster Asylum and he left his money to wife Eliza. So was she still alive at that time? I have not found a positive death for her. As to Eliza Ellen Rolles, she appears to have been born Dec Q 1847 in Totnes(maiden name recorded as Rowls)so has lied about her age on census. Children born to Henry William and Eliza are Mary Ann (Annie) Chapple baptised 23.08.1874. in Torquay. Ellen Eliza was baptised 12.06.1877 Wolborough St Pauls and says she was from Union (Workhouse), no father mentioned just mother Eliza. Sally

Thank you, Terry - I think that that is he.
Thank you, Judith - I am searching on behalf of another member who does not have access to the internet and I don't have all the data on this person. Eliza Ellen is a widow in the 1901 census but no record on the census of how long she was married. I have searched for variants. Henry William was a painter.
Thank you, Sally - I think that your findings are definitely Henry William.
