Phillips/Philips of Lydford

I have a Roger Phillips son of Richard baptised Lydford 1731, with Richard jnr baptised 1737. Cant find baptism of Richard senior. Possible marriage at doddiscombleigh 1730, but not on i.g.i. any ideas please.

Lydford baptisms only survive back to 1716. Transcriptions of surviving records can be viewed at https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/Lydford

Thankyou. I will have to go into the heritage centre and peer at the bishops transcripts on film. I was lucky and found my ancestor Valaentine Phillips baptism, 1688 son of Henry and Margaret. Hoping to see if Richard Phillips is a relative.

The BT's are on FamilySearch see https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1834091?availability=Family%20History%20Library which will also tell you which years have survived.

Thanks Tim - I'd forgotten about that. You can actually view the BTs online via FamilySeach. I've just found Valentine's. There was another Phillips couple baptising at that time - Roger & Thomasin.

Thankyou both, have managed to find Henry(father of Valentine) son of Henry and Jane, May 1663, Margaret Phillips buried 1713, and a son (no name) baptised 1679 of Roger and Thomasin. Will keep looking!!!
