Please can someone help me find John Quick snr. I have no birth/baptism date, nor death.
However John Quick married at Berry Pomeroy on 13th July 1788 to Elizabeth Narromore, widow of Berry Pomeroy. At marriage John was described of South Brent. Elizabeth had been born Quant in 1765. She had 2 surviving daughters from her first marriage.
John and Elizabeth had a daughter Elizabeth Quick baptised at Berry Pomeroy in 1788, then they moved to South Brent. The 2 Narromore girls were left in the care of grandparents.
At South Brent Mary Ann Quick was baptised 1791. Then 6 year old Elizabeth Quick died (1794) at South Brent. In 1795 John Quick jnr was baptised at South Brent but his mother did not survive many days after the birth.
I have a very detailed account of John Quick jnr's life (from a settlement examination) but would love to know a bit more about John Quick snr.
From the settlement examination, at sometime John Quick snr was an ag lab, working for John Crocker of East Allington.

FindMyPast has a burial of a John Quick in South Brent in 1813, aged 60. Makes DOB about 1753. There is a baptism for a John Quick in South Brent in 1755 in South Brent.
Whether this is your John or not is very hard to say without further research.
Aged 7yrs, John Quick jnr was bound by a private apprenticeship to the son of his father's employer at East Allington.
After a few years John Quick jnr and his master moved around lots of South Hams farms. But John jnr makes no further reference to his father. Seems a bit odd for John Quick snr to return to South Brent, but not out of the question.
Is there any mention of John jnr's sister Mary Ann Quick b1791. I don't know if she survived infancy or not.
Also John jnr in the Settlement Examination says he was bought up in South Brent by an aunt. I have never worked out if that was a real aunt or just a family friend.
