Have you tried this website https://maps.nls.uk/
It's the National Library of Scotland website but they have digitised maps for all the U.K.
You can search by place and then by the scale of the map, the most detailed are Ordnance Survey ones of the 1880/90s with individual building shown. It may take a while to find the exact one covering the area you mention but worth a look.
The only other suggestion would be tithe maps from the 1840s but depends on how old the cottages were to see if they appear. Hope that may help you.
