In 1911 he was living at 4, (Trelawany House, new Cendle Terrace, Cwm, south Wales, as uncle of the "Head" (Sidney James Murrian - my grandfather-, and his wife, Florence Annie). Also there is Sidney's father, James, and a son (my father) Cyril James. Frederick is noted as being single, aged 35, born Lifton, Devonshire.
In 1921 the family are all still at Cendle Terrace, (at that time there is another son of Sidney and Florence, - Sidney Harold Murrian - my uncle - who had been born in Cwm in 1913). Frederick is shown as being 47yr. 4 mths. born Milton Abbott and still single.
However, the (two) Electoral Registers for 1922, show, in the first Register, that they were all still at Cendle Terrace but, in the second Register of that year, they are shown to have moved "just up the road" to 2 Woodville Road, Cwm - but Frederick is no longer then with them. The Registers for 2 Woodville Road continue to show the Murrians (but not Frederick) up to 1935 (by then excluding James who had died there in 1932) and it was about then that the rest of the family moved to Birmingham.
My problem is what happened to Frederick.
I have been unable to find him anywhere in the 1939 Register, but have found a probable death of him, from an Obituary in the Western Morning News of 5 May 1948, of the death (on May 3) of Frederick Murrain at Old Bedford, Horrabridge said to have been a "dearly beloved brother of Thursa (Giles)". There was certainly a Thirza, the youngest of the children of Richard and Mary Murrian, who married John Henry Giles in 1903. I also found his burial on 5 May 1948 in the Horrabridge burials Register where his age is given as having been 73. That made some sense actually, as my father had told me that his uncle Fred had worked on the construction of Burrator Reservoir which was in 1894-1898 and I has found that further work took place between 1923 - 1928. So maybe Frederick heard about that in 1922 and decided to move back to the locality of Horrabridge - where his sister seems to have been living - and applied for the further work on the reservoir. How might I find Horrabridge - or Yelverton - in the 1939 Registers to look generally through those, to see if Frederick might have been mis-transcribed therein
