Dear DFHS, Greetings from Australia. I have been quite a bit of research into Samuel Slee (1811,Uffculme-1868, Hobart, VDL). He wasn't an asset to the community, I am afraid. He seemed to have a penchant for stealing fowl and was transported in 1846 (Van Diemen's Land via Gibraltar). According to Ancestry, he was baptised at Cross Lands or Cold Harbour Meeting House at Uffculme. The original record is not online, just a reference to FHL Film Number 590697. I believe that there was an Anabaptist meeting house at Cold Harbour at this time. Would this be what the entry is referring to do you think? Any information about this would be greatly appreciated. I would be very happy to share my research with anyone who is interested. He is an ancestor of my husband's cousin. Anne (anne@annephillips.net.au) |
