I have examined the parish registers and I have a will for a Samson SHEPHEARD which references his daughter Amey Prideaux GRAY. (and other daughters). The children of George & Amey, such as Mary Oliver GRAY (b 1842) and Mary Prideaux Sheppeard GRAY known as 'Amey' (b 1844) confirm the link to Samson SHEPHEARD with middle names relating to the SHEPHEARD family (Prideaux & Oliver being maiden names of female ancestors). George & Amey also had a son, George Northmore GRAY (b 1834) whose middle name references his grandmother Barbara NORTHMORE.
I would suggest you examine the parish registers yourself if you want confirmation.
