I think the 1873 reference is that of William Colwill who died 18th Jan 1873.
However, he was a maltster & hop merchant of Bideford, according to the probate record (on Ancestry & FMP). His widow was Ellen Tabitha (they married in 1858 Okehampton reg dist). So a red herring, I feel.
