My paternal line has been in Orkney since the mid 1600's under many different spelling variations but a recent Y-111 test has given me several matches under different surnames but all originating in Devon.
I've accepted the fact that this has all the hallmarks of a NPE but searching through the FTDNA groups it doesn't appear that any Devon Wooldridges have taken a Y-DNA test yet so it would be great to have this data to compare with (or rule out).
I see through records that there have been Wooldridges continuously in Devon since at least the 1500's so this at least reinforces my paternal origins, NPE or not.
Any suggestions on how a Devon Ancestor would turn up in Orkney would be welcome too!
