According to the Register of Soldiers' Effects (on Ancestry), he was 'presumed dead', date given is 21/01/16.
The CWGC website has him commemorated at Basra. Could the dis-embarkation date be the date he arrived in Iraq?
The records show his army no as 201183. I can't find a GW Pearce with number 3400.
