Hope your little one is on the mend, its awful when they are feeling poorly and you cant do much except be there.
Back to Samuel F Waite. I think he and Emily/Emma went off to Manchester in the hope of making more money than they would have been earning. He must have got into some sort of trouble, and been imprisoned/or went to America/abroad? she took up with Thomas Harris.
A Samuel Waite is on Manchester Rate books up to 1886.(might not be him)
Another Samuel Waite and Selina had a child Selina baptised St Andrews Manchester 5.9.1880, not on freebmd/census/ (given Emma had a sister Selina??????? perhaps Emma giving a false name?)
Samuel F Waite back in Monmouthshire in 1910 when he is buried.
Might be worth getting the death cert for him, but not sure who would be informant.
Samuel Waite (the other one) born Shropshire, registered as Waythe in Ludlow, and baptised as Waythe, appears as Waite in 1891 giving birthplace as Cainham- same as the Whaythe
one. Miners moved about a bit.
There is also another Samuel Wait born East Dean, Glose, just over the border. But not him.
As for Thomas/Tom, unless some other documentation turns up I think this is your dead end. We all get them, some unfortunately earlier than others. I have 3 now, the earliest are 1700, but other is 100 years later, because he was illigit, and loads of girls the same name as his mother, and only a surname for the father, and loads of them with that name, and no bastardy order!!!!
You could move on to the Stoneham line, see how far back that gets you.
Anyway good luck.
