Ok, I have ordered the 2 certificates, we will see what they reveal. I have been through the 1939 register, there are a couple of Ernest's there but not enough info to make any real judgement.
I am also hoping to find out if there are any descendants of Samuel and Elizabeth still in the Barnstaple area as my wife and I will be heading to the UK next Tuesday 29th. We will be staying one night in the Barnstaple area and would like to catch up with any distant relatives if there are any about.
