Re: How did they get on the I.GI.?
There are two sections on the IGI, one is a collection of information supplied by their members. To echo Chris great caution is required as energectic and imaginative posters sometimes assume marriages where the subject died as a child or a 17 year old groom marries a bride in her 90's. The second part comes from Bishop's Transcripts and from the transcriptions of the D&C Record Society. Not all Devon parishes are on the IGI as the CofE Church and individual clergy objected to parish records being transcribed by CLDS. In some cases the transcribers not familiar with local accents and lack of geographical knowledge inaccurately name parishes eg Honiton they name as Honiton on Otter. Some transcriptions for Wembury are duplicated under Wembworthy.
