One of my distant ancestors Mary Anne Darke married John Miller in Exeter in July 1833. However, the marriage banns were read on 3 consecutive Sundays in January 1833 in the Parish Church of Brushford. This was the home parish of Mary Anne and John's parish was recorded as Coldridge.
Marriage at another location is usually described as 'irregular', but was obviously permissible. However, I have been unable to determine whether there is a time limit on the period of validity of the banns. In this case the marriage took place a full 6 months after the banns were read.
Any suggestions on this matter would be gratefully received.
