Thanks for getting back to me. All I have to go on is that my grandmother was told her mother went into an asylum. As I haven't got much to go on I can only say that William George Rogers ( her father) married Fanny Matilda Mills in Milford Haven 2 nd July 1902 and states he was a widower. This is probably to hide the fact that he had a daughter. My grand mother didn't ever know her mother. Her father was a shipwrights RN and was at sea for long periods of time. My grandmother remembers living in a school when she was young run by a posh lady.
On her birth certificate it states her mother was Elizabeth Haines and when she was baptized the name was spelt Haines. I really hadn't got a clue as to who this lady was and not even her age although she must have been young enough to have a child in 1896. I have checked out the Devon asylum but not found Elizabeth there.
So really she may not be dead. I just can't find her. But I will check out the Elizabeth Haynes that you pointed out. Thank you.
