As someone accustomed to IT and the monotony of working on a computer, I’ve always been skeptical of spiritual trips. I’m not religious, and cultural sites usually make me eager to return to my laptop. However, my girlfriend was obsessed with the idea of seeing Sri Lanka’s ancient capital, so I gave in. We planned the trip at the end of February, one month before we left. We looked at options on Get Experience and chose the Kandy beautiful places to visit in one day, which turned out to be more interesting than I expected. We were picked up right from Colombo in a comfortable, air-conditioned car, which was essential given the heat. I was more impressed by the Temple of the Tooth Relic for its architecture and atmosphere than its religious significance. Even I, a pragmatist, enjoyed walking around Kandy Lake and the view from Bahirawa Hill, where you can forget about work.
