Sows

This has not been an easy decision for me, and I have not even discussed it with my wife and kids. I'm 75 and just plain wore out. We're not half done cleaning up from our storm in August when we lost most of our buildings. Don't have electricity to half our hog and cattle waterers. I just put herd boars out with 2 groups of sows 3 weeks ago and haven't got breeding dates down. Last spring Daweyn and I sorted back to about 15 of our very best sows and gilts. But I'm back up to about 30 again. We only have 6 crates left in an unheated shed to farrow in this winter. I've been fighting a stomach flu bug and severe cold for over a week. To do justice to the hogs and my family I need to sell a bunch of them. They're healthy, well fed, 6-way vaccinated and stress free Poland's - - and full of meat. All are registered and will be transferred. They'll work anywhere - - on pasture or in confinement (even all my porta huts blew away). This summer and fall I had a lot of inquiries regarding bred gilts, etc. I've been so wrapped up trying to just keep going each day from 4 a.m. to dark I never responded. If anyone is interested please just call me at (641) 751-8315. I'll probably just send the first load to market this Wednesday afternoon. Some of you in Alabama, Tenn., and Ohio could put a couple together apiece for a very reasonable investment. I'd planned to be in northern Tenn. /southern KY. this past weekend but wasn't fit to drive. Thank you for tolerating this.
