Re: Sympathy to the Rake Famiy
Thank you for your kind works Jack. I always accompanied my father to hog shows across the country. Mostly because my mom sent me along to keep an eye on him so he wouldn’t buy anymore pigs!! My father was a lifetime Chester White hog breeder, these hogs were meant to breed! He always said things like “ wow that boar is as sound as a cat” “Look at the bone on that animal”. When I would go visit him at the farm we walked through the barns to show me pride and joy. He would often say “ that’s the best hog I ever raised or that’s the best one on the farm”. (He said that about every pig). He was a very giving man who would give the shirt off his back to any customer in need. He often worked out payment plans or would make a hell of a deal. My mom was the real boss of the operation, and my dad said “ I just drive the truck”. If any of you got the honor of talking to my father in person or on the phone you knew how much he loved to talk! He mentored 4-H and FFA kids with starter projects and he would always buy them back at our local county fairs to put in our freezer because he knew the meat would taste great. My father always provided for us, he always had so much love in his heart for his children and grandchildren. Please help my family to “ continue the tradition of excellence”. My dad wouldn’t want his amazing genetics to just go to market. If you have the opportunity to buy a hog off the Rake farm, I guarantee you, that you won’t be disappointed. Unfortunately my father left us with the farm at a young age of 67, no one plans on waking up on a Saturday morning to see the EMA crew working on their father. We will be having a fall sale, semen is available! My brother Tim is helping my fathers legacy live on by stepping up to get these boars collected. My dad is so proud of him. Please give my mom Diane a call or dads cell for details! You can find those numbers on our Facebook page. Thank you everyone for your sympathy. Elizabeth Rake-Tom’s youngest daughter.
