Breed purity
Posted by Jack Wall on January 29, 2019, 3:23 pm
A topic of discussion among all breed board of directors and the combined CPS executive committee was and remains the integrity and honesty of each pedigree produced. It is the unanimous voice of all Directors present that the best policy to advance our breeds forward is to allow the office staff the capability to verify ancestry by DNA checking recorded sites and dams to resulting progeny. We have no interest at this time to build a data base of what genetic lines are pure, which may have lines that are unique for that breed or chase % pure. We do not claim to be geneticist or chosen professionals to determine which animals to be called "Pure" or breed standard. We will continue and more diligently test for and check on hogs on a routine bases to verify and confirm their genetic heritage. We are absolutely not running from breed purity but making it a greater emphasis that sites, dams and progeny are accurately reported. As always, we expect accurate reporting of genetics, birth dates, DNA, stress, ownership and performance data. Thanks in advance for your support on this important business decision for all 4 breeds of CPS. Please call me if you have any questions.
