Birach failed to upload Issues to the WMFN public file over the last couple years which is an absolute no no. Once the FCC finds out, they'll be slapped with a fine.

Z,
Will always remember the time I called WLS (long distance, 19??), was on hold for 56 minutes and asked the "talk radio" host, "when 'CFL died, what was the mood at WLS?" The answer, widely quoted, "now the competition is FM."

Last night and today, have been listening to 1973 KYA KDWB and 1970 WABC. KDWB and KYA were using TM Fusion or shotguns. WABC was WABC. When WLS (and later KSFX) were carbon copies of WABC...yuk!

ALL had energy! WBBM-FM and 'DHF had energy! In my own case, I never, never ever liked "AOR" or Album Rock, BUT, when KDWB might play the LONG "Smoke on the Water" or KRLA chart said "KRLA plays more album music" that told me the AMs were fighting FM.

Always LOVED the "Hit-Radio" slogan. In Milwaukee, both WLPX/WBTT (97X/B97) 97.3 and WRKR (Racine) were "Hit-Radio" (like Hit-Radio One Double-Oh seven, WRKR) RKR=Racine Kenosha Radio.
Pat Martin, to me, was an excellent programmer vs (out of town) Burkhart-Abrams. Programmed WSPT Stevens Point,WI. A ton of good people walked through those doors!

Consultants can pond sand! There might be a "flavor" but you still need the boots on the ground. I Still believe it to this day. This BS of a person tracking 53 stations... is horse crap. I'm sorry. What you put in, you get out!

Could you imagine 94.7 vs 96.3????
In Milwaukee there was 94.5 WKTI, Z95 (WZUU 95.7), B97, and WRKR 100.7. Z95 was the first to collapse. Malrite copying co-owned Z100/NYC. 1984/5/6...

In Mpls, I was fortunate to tape 4 at once:
(Yes, 4 recorders)... 63-KDWB 1130-WDGY 15-KSTP and new "U-100" in 1974.
To think how KDWB went from Shotguns to an AOR approach on "the new sound of KDWB" to Rob Sherwood and U-100, leaving WDGY to go to Y-11 with an almost LP approach. Now all were imitating Buzz Bennett/Sebastian tossing jingles, save U100, which, again, had energy. U100 would later be bought by Doubleday. From what I've read (the late) Gary Stevens was a decent person to work for! I don't know if Sherwood ever was the same.

One I liked in Chicago was "High Energy 88-7" WLUW! Actually have (Ken R.) jingles somewhere.

We've lived through good times! One day we'll look back at these as "good days" my guess.
