With Jarrett Payton signing off WGN 9 as well as Chris Boden among the recent layoffs at the Nexstar-owned station, it will leave Kaitlin Sharkey & Josh Frydman as the lone full time sports anchors/reporters on both WGN News and its 30 minute sportscast known as "GN Sports GameNight" at 10:30P every single night.
I have noticed "GN GameNight" has also utilized 720 AM WGN Radio sports anchors Andy Masur & Kevin Powell getting face time in recent weeks.
To make a long story short, would WGN consider re-hiring Boden, albeit on a free-lance basis, or perhaps promoting Masur & Powell to full time sports anchors on "GameNight" moving forward in the wake of Payton leaving "Chicago's Very Own"?
Sunday night's episode of "GN Sports" looked like an episode of "This Is Your Life". Google Ralph Edwards and the early reality show from the Golden Age of TV if you don't get the references.
WGN 9 reporter Mike Lowe had quite a story on Jarrett Payton which aired on "GN Sports", complete with video highlights. Payton's co-anchor Kaitlin Sharkey got choked up & sounded like she was going to cry in the final segment in saying goodbye to Payton.
