"Fox 32’s plan to ‘mix things up’ — and broadcast museum auctions meal with The Fonz"
You need a scorecard to keep track of the on-air lineup at Fox 32 Chicago, which has seen an exodus of veterans this year, including Dawn Hasbrouck, Sylvia Perez, Lou Canellis, Paris Schutz, Roseanne Tellez, Scott Schneider and Tina Nguyen. What’s happening depends on who you ask, but the through-line points directly at Sean O’Heir, who became news director at the perennially low-rated WFLD-Ch. 32 in September.
You do need a scorecard to figure out all the changes FOX 32 has made in recent weeks.
For starters, Anita Blanton has been promoted to principal anchor at the FOX-owned station replacing Dawn Hasbrouck starting this week. Blanton will be anchoring at 4P as well as at 9P on FOX 32, plus she's replacing Paris Schutz as anchor of the political talk show "The Chicago Report" at 6:30P on FOX Plus, which is WPWR 50 and at 10P on FOX 32.
I mentioned in a previous thread that FOX 32 also made changes to their sports department, promoting Cassie Carlson to lead sports anchor replacing Lou Canellis. The FOX-owned station just hired former 720 AM WGN Radio sports producer/reporter Sam Panayotovich and ex-FOX 29 Philadelphia sports anchor/reporter Devan Kaney to replace Carlson as FOX 32's Bears reporter.
They've also revamped their morning newscast as "Chicago's Morning News" from 4:30-9A followed by "Good Day Chicago" and a new show called simply "The LOOP" from 11A-1P Monday-Friday.
Additionally, if I can ask a dumb question...
Since when did FOX 32 start rebranding themselves as FOX Chicago again?
