Filed today that WBGX/W240EI returned to the air on July 21. Can anyone local confirm?

Heard WBGX with weak signal on 1570 AM with gospel music at 3 pm today near O'Hare. No sign of of W240EI on 95.9 FM. Just two Spanish speaking stations battling it out.

Tonight both AM and FM signals loud and clear on far Southwest Side.

Just this morning I did a bandscan on AM and, whoa, 1570 is back? It was surprising to me to hear WBGX again.

Yes, I can. I heard them while going thru the NWI SDR. It's great to have them back. That was faster than I expected, for a return to the air. Let's hope they stay on for a really long time to come.

Since the station is still in receivership this could mean they're just trying to keep the licenses alive, or maybe a buyer came out of the woodwork somewhere. Will have to wait and see.

No sign of them in Southern Milwaukee County, tho have dx'ed them. Did hear WFRL in Freeport!

Even a bit more interesting, OFF TOPIC, is 1230 WJOB (Hammond) in multiple mornings, easily over 45 minutes. Odd: no WCLO Janesville, which is closer!

Too, AM Radio Fan, I hope it's on for some time.

Everyone, there is a drive on Facebook, to buy it, or so it seems? I am not very aware of its past, except it has been on for years and it serves a niche no one else is offering and that is good enough for me to support the AM and FM band.

Someone that used to be part of it and their younger son are trying to generate interest. I honestly could not believe the amount of people replying and offering support. So..... (I will post a new thread on what I saw on social media, next)

John, WFRL had some equipment issues that were expensive to fix, so they downgraded from a two tower directional with 5000 watts daytime to ND 1000 daytime around three years ago and it seems to get out most places better than before. Who woulda thought?

I can remember WFRL as a Top40 rocker going against WROK 1440 in the 1970's. In my mind, good stuff!
AM/FM 98.5 simulast then, as AM was only a daytimer.

Managed to hear W240EI last night (11 pm) near O'Hare. Popped in briefly just to hear ID for both WBGX AM 1570 and 95.9. Then lost to WEFM. Earlier in the day WQZY from Georgia and WROK from Florida heard on 95.9 during an E skip opening.

Wow, cool. I'll have to check in on 95.9. I am down by Hinsdale. I miss my old area by 294 and 95th St. I do get down there about once a week (appointments, shopping after).
