750AM sounds better

In northwest Indiana 750 AM is sounding much better, but there still is a little distortion. You can almost make out the artist with no problem.

Isn't it interesting how there's literally no one besides we radio geeks on message boards that are even paying attention to this station? Even if you have Fred Eychaner's money, why would you throw it away keeping a daytime AM on the air? Frankly I'm surprised they aren't simulcasting WCPT on it. At least that would make a little more sense than the music that's been running the last two years.

True. Who would at this point? 750 is killing themselves. Not a wise thing to do. Time to join the rest of them (throw in the towel, call it a day).

On its way there. Yes, after that limited time, as a tax write off (say, 2027-2030)...that's it. I expect to see "RIP, WNDZ 750 AM" soon. Who knows...maybe someone might buy it (but I'm not counting on it).

Running it at a loss. Tax write off. They have a certain amount of time, most often 3 years, to do so. Best case scenario, someone will come along and buy it to air what they want like AM 1110, or match it to an FM Translator. Next best, hand in the license save on the energy costs and sell the land under the tower.

The double whammy for AM Daytimers was a) Being a "daytimer" b) The total collapse of brokered radio.

Yea, I brought up 750 with a friend and he replied, ‘never heard of ‘em.’ When the original WCGO (1570AM) folded 17 years ago, I recall trying to discuss it with people. No interest.

That is what is great about this board. People here care. Most of the stuff is in regards to local stuff which makes it even better.

This is one of the few places where people like us actually care (about the little stations, with a lot to offer). The original WCGO on 1600, was one of the few that I could not get at my location (then west of Oak Lawn). The same with 1500, 1580, 1560, and 1420 (among them). I would've loved 1600. I discovered these stations (years ago), by flipping around the dial. It sucks that many of them are gone, and very few are left.

I don't know if I'm allowed to share this, but a guy I know E-Mailed them and asked. He posted their response on another radio board (RadioDiscussions, the Chicago board), and they said they upgraded the remote control system at the transmitter site and it caused some problems. They are actively trying to fix it.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links to other boards but I'm pretty sure everybody here either already posts there or has in the past.

Feel free to delete this if I'm not allowed to share it, and I apologize in advance.

We don't like linking to many sites because they just suck or rip off our members posts. RadioDiscussions is a good site and we actually share a lot of members with them. Go ahead and link it Jeremy! Thank you for posting.

With permission, Paul (SomeRadioGuy) shared the details of the E-Mail he received about WNDZ in this thread. I've known him for over 20 years in the DX circles. It looks like they are actively trying to solve the problem based on the response he got from them, and as mentioned, it looks like this began when they installed new equipment.
