W236CG 107.1 FM, Chicago, IL - Construction permit (Formerly 95.1)

& they have a CP for 107.1FM, moving from 95.1 Bolingbrook. (Actually this one was in Elmwood Park on a cell tower a few blocks north of Grand Ave on the West side of thew street, no pun intended!) If I was CHIRP radio, I would not be able to sleep well at night. Looks like this one will be off of Sears tower.

If this anticipated coverage map is anything like the ones for translators on 95.1 (the downtown one), 100.7 or 103.9, this one is going to destroy a significant portion of WZVN Lowell’s coverage, which today includes all of Lake County IN, southeast Cook and east Will Counties. I would also anticipate a similar loss for WSPY Plano.

The only good thing, CHIRP, WZVN and WSPY have leverage. If they prove interference, owners of W236CG have to deal with it. They have already run into trouble with 103.9 in the past. Maybe they have learned their lesson?

As long as listeners file interference complaints, there might be action.
