Not Chicago, but
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/363829/rogers-to-shut-down-six-canadian-news-sports-stations/ When I hear AM radio (even with FM translators) or full power FMs...running public service stuff vs. advertising that used to run, I have to wonder how long (AM) radio is going to hemorrhage. This, in DRIVE TIME. Bad sales folk or a product people might not be engaging?
Years ago, a dx'er told me, "AM radio will die within our lifetime! We will not have a (dx) hobby." This was in the 1980's!
Read something on a message board "FM has less than 20 years..."
I guess in Europe it's all DAB stuff. I guess we all went from 45's to tape to CD's to...."
Next thing they'll say the Oldsmobile, Mercury or Pontiac is gone, hi!
Inevitable, I guess, but the loss of "All News" or "All Sports" stations in major Canadian cities, or even the demise of All News WCBS-AM in NYC tell one of a changing landscape. 230 jobs killed off on one day?!?!
Either these are businessmen or total jerks! Or both!
