As I type this, it is May 1st. It's about a month & change into the 2026 MLB season.
As he gets ready to call another Cubs' game with Jim Deshaies & dugout reporter Taylor McGregor on Marquee Sports Network, Awful Announcing caught up with Cubs' principal TV voice Jon "Boog" Sciambi.
"Boog" discussed not only the start of the Cubs' season, but how surprisingly competitive the other teams in the National League Central are just a month to 6 weeks into the marathon known as the 162 game regular season.
Sciambi also discusses his working relationship with Deshaies & McGregor on Marquee's Cubs' broadcasts & calling the World Series nationally on ESPN Radio.
There's also something near & dear to "Boog", too. He is also on the Board of Directors for Project Main Street, a charity dedicated to providing financial assistance to people living with ALS. A charity created in 2006 by his childhood friend Tim Sheehy. He lost his battle with what's commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease in 2007.
You may also see players & coaches throughout MLB wearing special T-shirts raising awareness to "END ALS" as we get closer to the annual Lou Gehrig Day on June 2. Proceeds from the special T-shirts go to Project Main Street and are available via the Obvious Shirts' Website.
"Boog" covers all the bases regarding the Cubs & MLB in the Awful Announcing interview found here:
