This one is for you John! :-) Public link you should be able to see it even w/o a FB account. If you can't let me know.
Z WMBD Radio:
Video from the final moments before the signal is turned off of AM 1290 WIRL after more than 77 years. Featured in the video is former WIRL personality, Wayne R Miller, who pressed the button to end the signal, and Midwest Communications General Manager Mike Wild.
Z, I watched the WIRL video, with sadness. Even looking at Wayne Miller's eyes at the very end, was sad. Read all 111 comments (at the time) but I didn't cry, as a few commenters claimed they did. Mr. Miller's eyes didn't lie. Was like losing a loved one!
I've written MWC that they had certain stations on their websites that were silent for years. (IE:1440 Paris). They would remove the station from the website, with no reply or "thank you" from them. Classless!
I do wonder what Duke Wright would have done or what avenue he would have taken. He, in every video (KFGO, MWC Nashville looking at transmitters) seemed like a good human being. I'm sure he had a business to run and had to make difficult decisions, but I wonder how he might have handled this. He truly loved what he was blessed with: the love of radio.
For you, Z: http://kiwisdr.com/.public/ and https://dxtra.com/ to the other dx'er's, radio geeks, and President Pedro for this board, thank you! Possibly, running a board is like being a Hall Monitor or a Den Mother, but this is a good place. Yes, there are disagreements, but one has that in their own families, for sure. Opinions are like a--holes, and fences make good neighbors! Thank you so much! It's clean. It's good!
