1300 WRDZ Rebel Radio

Holy cow, I am actually able to hear Rebel Radio playing metal on 1300 WRDZ. Signal is weak, at US-45 LaGrange Road and 131st Street (Palos). By comparison, it's about the same strength here as 1420 WIMS Michigan City.

I don't recall where their temp transmitter/antenna is located, hard to look it up right now.

Announced at 12:30pm as, "You're listening to Rebel Radio."

Phil, I think they have raised the wattage the last few days because I hear it where I was not able to hear it before.

Supposedly they are TX from the old WXRT digs on Belmont Ave on the North Side of the city. Antenna tower on top of the building, ground tied into the beams of the building itself.

For about a month, I've been able to hear it from my location (55th/83). I can hear it from sunrise to sunset. The OP mentions 131st/LaGrange Rd. I can get it (fair-good) from my old location (95th/294). It's strange, what has happened to the dial, in the last 5-10 years. Even stranger hearing this on 1300.

AMRadioFan, CADXer reported in another thread that night wattage is 10 watts. FCC declined the 1.125 kW daytime/1 kW watt request. You have to be in front of the building to hear it at night.

What in the world was broadcast at night previously? If it were brokered I would be angry, unless the customer was unaware.

Detectivetom, the station has been off the air for 1 or 2 years? Been so long, I do not even recall what the last format was! I believe Polnet was leasing the station out in the recent past. Possibly someone else here remembers more details.

From 2015 until it went off the air, it simulcast WNVR. They bought it to improve WNVR's coverage.

The signal for 1300 was so so on the far Southwest Side, but ironically the signal for WWCA (1270 AM) out of Gary was extremely strong. Do not recall it that strong before.

On the other side, 1330 AM was very strong in northwest Indiana. Assumed it was WKTA out of Evanston? When I listened no station ID.

Wasn't Bloomberg radio on there between Disney and Polski Radio? Or it was supposed to happen never did?
