Bigger question to contemplate, this is post covid, there are no alternate studios for emergencies? No contingency plan? What happens if there is a long term event like a terrorist attack? Tornado? Earthquake? Fire?
Can't work out an agreement or barter with one of the commercial companies? (Def can't do it with EMF as they have literally no studios here). The engineers have no remote studios? Any of the jocks? People were on air from their homes, live during Covid.
Someone needs to have these discussions. This is another reason commercial/terrestrial radio is dying and becoming less relevant. Switching to a network feed is an immediate action, kudos. But, I can tune into the national feed not using 91.5FM. Making 95.1 less of a "habit" to listen to, great chase your P1's off to another station or medium. The live and local portions are not enough and what keep 91.5 relevant, especially when there are pledge drives. ⬅️⬅️⬅️⬅️ Important.

Okay, I wanted to raise the alternative studio question yesterday, but didn’t. Glad you did. They stated “safety” concerns made them leave the studios. What safety? It was cold? Put on a coat for goodness sake. Switch off every two hours. Charlie Meyerson would have stated in the studios, for those if you who remember him from BEZ in the 80s! 😄

detectivetom, I am pretty certain it was *really* cold in there, or their plumbing was failing, or the elevators were out, or the electronics could have posed danger if it was that cold or damp....... very possible they just said "cold" to the audience to make it go away as it sounded plausible!
Still amazed there was no gas generator for the studios, building, or a backup plan.
If you (everyone reading this) are hoping the Public Radio station will save you during a catastrophe, this should sober you up a bit.
