WSQR has been silent the last two-three days. Technical difficulties? If so I wonder if anyone from the office in Plano is even aware that it's off.

Must admit I never heard of this station until your post. Searched for info and discovered it has a nighttime power of one watt. Interesting.

They also have a translator at 92.9, but I'm far enough away that the FM coverage is generally spotty here so can't tell for sure if that's on or not. The AM gets out quite well during the day, all the way west to Iowa and north into Wisconsin.

You’ve never seen an AM station with a nighttime wattage of 1 watt? This started back in the 80’s when daytime only stations were allowed to stay on the air 24 hours a day but at drastic reductions in power.

Awesome screen name. Lol.

There are many AM'ers from back in the day, rather reduce to 1 watt and not turn off the TX box, as it puts more stress + wear and tear on it, to go off, gets cold and contracts, turn on (some needed warm up time) more stress expanding with heat, etc.

In today's world, it actually upholds the rule to be a real translator for an FM.

WCSJ-AM in Morris, now WAUR-AM 1550 is 6 watts @ night, even with the new CP they applied for to increase day coverage to 5K from 380 watts.

LOL! No surprise. Nelson is a joke. Run on band aids and rubber bands. This one has to be laid on the blame of the Webmaster/Admin, if they have one. Probably their primary engineer doing 99 other duties.
