Streetz 95.1 Chicago - W236CF-FM is *Still* broadcasting & maybe W236CG-FM

Posted by WYTZZ95FM User icon on August 26, 2025, 8:13 pm

A few months back they made an announcement that they could not reach an agreement to continue brokering the time. They have not made an announcement they are back, but they are. The WOJO-HD2 feed is gone and has been gone. Yet, they are *still* on air translating to 95.1, violating FCC rules.

The 95.1 Elmwood Park signal is off. I am receiving the 95.1 from Trump tower, but there is a possible new TX pattern. 99% of the time WILL Rock from Kenosha kicks their butt everywhere outside of the city to the West, SW and of course the North. The 95.1 Elmwood Park was supposed to move to 107.1, I have yet to hear it, anywhere in the south or north.

W236CF-FM 95.1 MHz

W236CG-FM 95.1 MHz

Image is the new pattern is a CP off of Trump tower. All the fish over Lake Michigan are jealous they can't use Streets, but they can listen to Streetz 95.1 if this pattern is adopted!

Anyone on the South or slight SouthWest area that can check if they can hear 107.1 and it is the Streetz?

I have a question along similar lines.

This week was tuned to WGTO (910 AM) out of Dowagiac, Michigan. As noted previously, it is owned by Larry Langford. When it came to make the station ID it identified as 97.1 and 96.7 “The Ride.” Obviously it was simulcast. Happened several times. It never gave the AM ID.

My question. Are stations required to give the actual ID?

97.1 operates out of South Bend and 96.7 out of Dowagiac. They also have a second translator (97.5 FM) out if Valparaiso, Indiana.

Yes, the AM must air a legal ID hourly and the translators should follow the rules below.
Identification of translator and booster stations. Translator stations must be identified by the licensee by the following means:

... by arranging with the primary station whose signal is being rebroadcast to identify the translator by call sign and location. The identification must occur 3 times daily: once between 7 AM and 9 AM, once between 12:55 PM and 1:05 PM, and once between 4 PM and 6 PM. See 47 CFR Section 74.1283(c)(1)....

by transmitting the call sign in Morse Code at least once hour. See 47 CFR Section 74.1283(c)(2) for additional requirements for transmission of the call sign in this manner.

WRHL-AM 1060 kHz Rochelle, Illinois "93.5 Superhits" translates on 93.5FM, calls are W228DT-FM. They ^never^ ID the translator calls. They only say WRHL Rochelle, DeKalb for the top hour.

The Streets, never ID'ed the correct way. I am pretty sure they mentioned WOJO-HD2 and "95.1FM".

Jeremy mentioned once that the FCC has relaxed rules for the legal ID's concerning translators. They also relaxed it for FM/HD Legal ID's. Used to me Wxxx-FM & Wxxx-HD1 Chicago. Most ID Wxxx-HD1

Sorry hit enter too fast.

Most ID Wxxx-HD1 Chicago. In the past, pre-HD days, it depended on what the FCC license stated. If you were Wxxx-FM, you had to ID that way. If you were Wxxx, even if on FM, you ID'ed that way, minus the FM. Things have changed @ the FCC, for sure. More lax, for the worse.

I agree. WRHL never does a legal ID for the translator, nor do the Nelson enterprise stations in Sycamore. I'm sure the FCC isn't too concerned. Just another small bit of sloppy management and programming staff who don't really care. And people wonder why interest in broadcast radio is dying. And now get off my lawn.

One thing for sure with this southward-aimed pattern, W236CF bites deep into the original coverage area of Milner’s 95.1 WFAV Kankakee. Down in Beecher I can choose between either station’s strong signal by re-aiming the antenna. If I lock in Streetz on my HD radios, after 8 seconds the WFAV-HD1 audio takes over because of how strong that signal is here.

See that little yellow splotch to the left of Cedar Lake? That’s Beecher. That is where W236CF and WFAV are approximately equal strength.
