If you are a listener to 670 AM The SCORE, WBBM Newsradio 780 AM/105.9 FM WCFS, 93XRT, 104.3 JAMS, US 99 & B96, you now have a new option to listen to sports, news & your favorite music.
It was learned today that Audacy, parent company of the 7 Chicago stations mentioned above, has found another home in addition to its own app.
These stations, along with Infinity Sports Radio (The former CBS Sports Radio), will now be available for listeners on the iHeart Radio app. The move adds Audacy content to over 500 additional platforms & 2,000 additional devices such as Android & smartphones.
Audacy will content to market its separate app in addition to putting its stations nationwide on iHeart.
Comments from Audacy Chief Business Officer Chris Olivero & iHeart President of Business Development Michael Biondo regarding Audacy joining the iHeart lineup can be found here:
I had to do a double take when I first read the story and provide the link regarding Audacy stations appearing on the iHeart Radio app...And vice versa.
There are 2 substations, for lack of a better word, that I've been listening to lately on the Audacy app. They are "XRT: Through the Decades: The '70s & '80s" . When I tuned in late one night, I noticed ESPN Chicago 1000 AM appearing on the Audacy app. I thought to myself...That can't be right.
John "Rock" Mamola, former producer at 670 AM The SCORE who was laid off last November as part of iHeart Media's budget cuts after programming WDAE-AM & FM in Tampa, wrote a column about Audacy stations now popping up on the iHeart app. He thinks it might be a wake up call for iHeart & their own family of sports radio stations.
