It seems like yesterday when FOX Sports started its long relationship with Major League Baseball as its lead broadcast partner. Believe it or not, FOX & FS1 start their MLB season Tuesday morning with national coverage of the Cubs/Dodgers' series in Tokyo.
While Alex Cohen, Jim Deshaies & Taylor McGregor are actually on site at the Tokyo Dome ready to call the 2 Cubs/Dodgers' games Tuesday & Wednesday morning (Central Time) on Marquee Sports Network for Cubs' fans, the same won't be said for either the guys on 670 AM The SCORE/Cubs Radio Network & FOX/FS1 respectively.
Pat Hughes, about to start his 30th season as the Hall of Fame radio voice of the Cubs, will call the Cubs/Dodgers' series in Tokyo with Ron Coomer & Zach Zaidman along the Cubs Radio Network...From an empty Wrigley Field press box. Shades of the 2020 pandemic.
As for FOX Sports, former White Sox TV voice Jason Benetti will call Game 1 Tuesday morning on FOX starting at 5A (CT). Benetti, now the TV voice of the Detroit Tigers, won't be in Tokyo. He's getting ready to call the first weekend of the NCAA Basketball Tournament games with former DePaul star and current Brooklyn Nets' analyst Sarah Kustok in Raleigh, NC Friday & Sunday along the Westwood One Sports/NCAA Radio Network.
Adam Amin, current TV voice of the Bulls, is currently traveling with the team on a West Coast trip. Wednesday night, he & Stacey King will call Bulls/Suns in Phoenix on CHSN. Wednesday morning, Amin will be calling Cubs/Dodgers on FS1 likely from his Phoenix hotel room at 5A (CT).
Former White Sox World Series-winning catcher A.J. Pierzynski, host of the daily baseball show "Foul Territory", will analyze the 2 game Cubs/Dodgers' series on FOX & FS1 respectively.
As for FOX & FS1's plans for the 2025 season, Joe Davis, John Smoltz, Ken Rosenthal & Tom Verducci headline the network's roster of on air talent calling the games all season long, while Kevin Burkhardt, Chris Myers & Mike Hill handle hosting duties from the FOX Television Center in Los Angeles.
