It's been a rough go as many Chicago sports fans know, regardless of which team you cheer for. The same can also be said for CHGO Sports, the digital sports network owned by ALLCITY Network.
The digital sports network, which airs online as well as on The Roku Channel, trimmed part of their staff today as part of budget cuts across ALLCITY's 5 markets. For some of these people, they received Pink slips in their holiday stockings.
On air employees Herb Lawrence, Vinnie Duber, Ryan Herrera, Nicholas Moreano & Greg Boysen & some production personnel were among the local layoffs at CHGO Sports. These layoffs are part of a shift in resources and trying to expand revenue & wider distribution. That's according to the Sun-Times' Jeff Agrest.
Comments from ALLCITY CEO Brandon Spano regarding today's layoffs at CHGO Sports can be found here...If you can also get through the paywall:
I mentioned Nicholas Moreano among today's layoffs at CHGO Sports. Moreano got the news about his own layoff...As he was en route to Halas Hall. He shared his story to X/Twitter:
There is too much competition for all of these ventures. Furthermore, the US has devolved to the 150 character tweet format. Attention span is miniscule.
For me and just my opinion, I lost interest in sports long time ago. It is no longer sport but excess driven. I have issues when a doctor or teacher or firefighter make a million times less that an athlete with almost always a massive attitude. I do attend minor league and collegiate events along with other more obscure sports.
